The Keeshond (pronounced KAYZ-hawnd) is an old breed once a companion and watchdog on the barges and boats that traveled the canals and rivers of Holland in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Keeshond is first and foremost a devoted friend to their family. They were bred more as a companion than a hunter or watchdog. The Keeshond is full of personality and loves to share their enthusiasm with everyone, often spinning in circles and jumping up and down. Affectionate, cheerful, even-tempered, and friendly, adult Keeshonds and puppies alike, enjoy being part of a family and love all family members.
The keeshond is a sturdy, intelligent and adaptable dog. They are an ideal companion and good watch dog, barking at any sign of noise or disruption. Confident, alert and friendly - they are always ready to raise the alarm.
Jill Schofield fell in love with the Keeshond breed and got her first dog, Breccia in 1982 in Halifax. In 2004, she and her daughter, Jessica, decided it was time for another dog. Glady Gates put them in touch with Cathy Cinnamon, of Cinnakees, and their love of the breed continued. CH Cinnakees Pebble Beach better known as SWIX, became part of their family. Our website is named after this very special male who will always keep a piece of our hearts. Mike Necesanek, Jill's husband got to know the Keeshond breed though Jill and Jessica. Swix's personality and spirit could not be resisted.
In 2010 we added Cinnakees Coco Chanel to our family. She is a very unique dog sired by AM/CAN GCH Daimler's Caviar Dreams - Parker. Her Dam was GCH Cinnakees on the Rocks (Swix's sister). Taos continues to be the boss of our family exhibiting her stately and royal status.
In 2015, Jessica and Jill made a trip to Viejo, California where they picked up Radler - GCH Designer Canada Post, from Rita Jacobs. She was sired by GCH Kemont's Ransom Masker of Ceremonies and her Dam is GCH Daimler Surprise Delivery 4 Designer.
With Radler, our love of the breed has moved to a new level. With the breeding of Radler to BIS,BPIS,GCH Daimler's Original Jeans at Cinnakees (Levi), we want to do our part in continuing and bettering the breed standard. We take this responsibility as breeders, seriously and will ensure that no dogs will be bred that do not exhibit sound health and stable temperament and that in-turn produce puppies that are the best representative of the breed.
We ensure that as pet owners and breeders, to the best of our knowledge, our litters are based on the parents' appropriate temperament, free from congenital and hereditary defects only exhibiting characteristics of the Keeshond Breed Standard. Both the Sire and Dam are health tested, with registrations for both the litter and the puppies.
Keeshond puppies are fun and active . Their main job is to be a constant and loving, loyal family member. They want to be part of the family whether in your car, on the couch watching TV or sitting on the table getting groomed. The puppies are active, energetic and smart. They can be trained easily with a little persistence.
